Places of InterestThere are so many wonderful things to discover on the Island of Cozumel. Here are some of our favorite places of interest: The other side of the island: Take a tour or rent a car to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Eastern side of Cozumel. You’ll find long stretches of deserted beach line dotted with small local restaurants where you can stop for refreshments or some freshly caught seafood. Punta Sur Park: While you are over on the other side of the island, stop in at Punta Sur Park. This ecological park functions as a tourist attraction and natural preserve. Climb the lighthouse for the most spectacular view of the island or explore the natural lagoon with wild crocodiles. Bird watching and snorkeling are other activities offered in this natural gem of Cozumel.
San Gervasio ruins: Located in the center of Cozumel, San Gervasio complex is a reminder of the first people ever to inhabit the Island of Cozumel: the Maya. You can take a guided tour through the complex or explore the ruins on your own. Either way, you will discover the way of life of the Maya here in Cozumel through these impressive structures they have left behind. Protected Reefs of Cozumel: Of course the most popular activity for visitors to Cozumel is enjoying the world famous reef the island has to offer. The Cozumel Marine Park extends along the southwestern side of the island. Whether scuba diving or snorkeling, you’ll be amazed at the colorful variety of fish and coral reef.
El Cedral Town: The first established village on the island of Cozumel, it is said that the Spanish Conquistadores held the first Christian mass in Mexico at this sight. The original cross still stands as a reminder of this significant event.
Cozumel main square: Right in the center of town, walking around Cozumel’s main square can be a delightful experience. Here you can stroll the pedestrian avenues lined with craft and souvenir shops. On Sundays free live music is performed in the Square and all the locals gather with their families and friends.
